Our History

McFarland Funeral Home was established in 1968 by the late Rev. R. L. McFarland, Sr. and Ruby T. McFarland who, at 94 years of age, continues to work in the business. Today, the funeral home is operated by Ruby, Kentucky licensed funeral director and embalmer and two of her sons, Dwight T. McFarland, Kentucky licensed funeral director and embalmer and Alison S. McFarland, Kentucky licensed funeral director.

The new funeral home building, built in 2006, is centrally located in Owensboro, KY on approximately one acre of land and offers a full array of funeral services, including cremation.

The building design incorporates audio-visual services with a motorized drop-down large screen for showing memorial videos, closed-circuit television for funeral services or other displays as needed, flat screen television monitors as well as the traditional a/v services, state-of-the-art preparation room, and lounge with kitchen facilities for guests.

The mahogany wood-finished trim throughout, the antique chandeliers in the chapel, foyer and arrangement room, together with the ceramic tile flooring in key high-traffic areas give the facility a modern yet comfortable home-style environment for guests and staff.
