Daryl Keith Gibson, 66, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky at their Heartford House facility. He was born July 3, 1959, in Owensboro to the late Homer and Peggy Gibson.

As a young man, Daryl attended high school in Chicago, Illinois, before joining the United States Army, where he served honorably. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after many dedicated years. Following that, he continued his service to the nation as a civilian employee for the U.S. Government until his second retirement. After retirement, he spent several years residing in North Carolina before finally retuning to Owensboro, KY to spend his remaining years.

Daryl loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed performing as a music disc jockey, playing the electric guitar, and collecting electronic musical equipment. He also took great pride in his cooking skills and spoke confidently of his abilities in the kitchen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Greg Gibson and Gwen Robinson.

He is survived by his uncles, Richard (Donna) Michael Gibson, Dennis (Karen) Williams, and Ricky (Geraldine) Williams; his aunts, Shirley Worthen, Phyllis Akpan, Martha Lillian Gibson, and Celestine Williams Bovo; his niece, Destiny Gibson; his nephew, Josh Gibson; and a host of cousins and friends.

A service to commemorate the life of Mr. Gibson will be held at a later date.
