Derrick Vance West, 55, of Owensboro, departed this life on Wednesday May 16, 2018 at home. He was a charter member of Cedar Street Baptist Church. Vance was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; Donald R. and Hazel West Sr., his father; Leroy McCreary Sr., three brothers; Leroy McCreary Jr., Donald R. West Jr.and Kenton McCreary. He leaves to cherish his memories and mourn the loss of his passing; his wife, Velina West; two daughters, DeAndra and Hazel(Jason); two sons, Vencente and Derrick; four grandchildren, ZyAir, A'Dyn, Avery, and Stephen; step-mother, Betty McCreary; several brothers and sisters; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
