Born and raised in Owensboro, Johnny was the son of Malcolm E. Walker, Sr. and Mary Jackson Walker. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 1975, where he proudly participated in the Jr. ROTC program. A man of remarkable versatility and enduring generosity, Johnny dedicated his life to lending a hand—quite literally—to anyone in need. Whether it was working on cars, fixing roofs, plumbing, painting, or mowing lawns, Johnny was never far from a project, always guided by a spirit of service and community. Beyond his labor, Johnny had a lifelong love of music. In his younger years, he played with several local bands throughout the 1970s and 1980s. His musical gifts extended into the church, where he offered his talents on the drums, keyboard, and guitar as a devoted member of COGIC. In his later years, Johnny rekindled his relationship with God, embracing his faith with renewed joy and purpose. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Malcolm E. Walker, Jr. and James B. Walker, Sr.; and two sisters, Josie Rouse and Regina Walker. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Christopher A. Walker, David L. Walker, Ariel J. Walker, all of Owensboro, and Daryian E. Walker of Robards, KY; ten siblings: Cheryl Slaughter, William E. (Judy) Walker, Sr., Diann Smoot, Robert L. Walker, Darryl (Margaret) Walker, Sr., Michael A. Walker, Sr., Kenneth R. (Jerwonda) Walker, Sr., Ricky T. (Jeanette) Walker, Marya E. Walker, and Barbara Yvette (Eric) Brown; five grandchildren: KiShawn Walker, Jaylen Walker, Staten Walker, Adrian Walker, and Harper Walker; two great-granddaughters: Legaci Walker and Lyric Walker; his loving companion of 18 years, Lilly M. Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family including a Sister-in-Love, Hope Walker, widow of James B. Walker, Sr. Johnny's warmth, humor, and helping hands will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
