John Joseph Garvin, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in his hometown Owensboro, Kentucky, at home, surrounded by the love of his wife Carla and daughter Cyan. Born on November 26, 1959, in Daviess County, John’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to hard work, dependability, and the well-being of those around him.
John’s professional journey was distinguished by his 30 years of dedicated service at the Regional Water Resource Agency, culminating in his role as Operations Plant Manager, from which he retired in 2019. His career was a testament to his perseverance and leadership, as he steadily worked his way up the ladder within the agency, ensuring the safety and sustainability of vital water resources for his community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was deeply involved in his neighborhood, serving on the Neighborhood Alliance Board for several years. His dedication to local affairs reflected his genuine desire to make his community a better place. Many fondly recall how John was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to neighborhood children whom he often assisted with fixing their bikes, embodying his spirit of generosity and care.
John’s love for the outdoors was evident through his enjoyment of various sporting activities including golf, fishing, archery, and target shooting. He also found joy in watching the cooking channel, showcasing his appreciation for culinary arts. An expert shopper, John was known among friends and family for his knack for finding bargains, a skill that brought him pride and satisfaction.
