Mrs. Lula Mae McKenzie, 79, of Owensboro departed this life on Thursday October 08, 2015 at the Owensboro Center Nursing Home. She was born in Peachtree, Alabama to the late Henry and Pearl Williams, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. McKenzie and one son, Jerald McKenzie. Mrs. McKenzie was member of the Greater Ebenezer Temple .She was involved in Cooking Ministry in the community before her declining health. Lula was a former member of the Rock Church. She loved sewing, gardening, and cooking. She leaves to cherish her memories and mourn the loss of her passing; three sons, Kenneth (La'Tanya) McKenzie, Keith (Catherine) McKenzie, Patrick (Natasha) McKenzie; three daughters, Deborah Groves, Beverly Gary, Donna Morrison; 25 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie ( Mary ) Burroughs, Jimmy ( Dale ) Burroughs; six sisters, Bertha Stiggers, Vera ( Joe ) Whigham, Dorothy Hobbs, Sopora Shuler, Bonnie ( Charles ) Leachman, Lucinda Vanderbilt, nieces nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be at noon Saturday October 17, 2015 at Greater Ebenezer Temple, 1528 West 9th Street, Owensboro. Burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
