Maggie V. Howard, 83, of Owensboro, passed away Friday at Twin Rivers Nursing Home. Born in Pleasant Ridge, she was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Estella Simmons; two sisters, Mildred E. Tinsley and Mattie Glover Brizendine; and one brother, Burl Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Lafayette "Pete" Howard who died in 1982; a son, James (Anna) Howard Sr; and two grandchildren, James Howard Jr, and Jimmy Howard. Maggie was a member of Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Owensboro, where she served as an usher before her declining health. She is survived by her long-time companion, David Taylor; 3 nieces, Margaret Haynes, Dorothy Simmons, and Della Phillips; one nephew, James H. Tinsley of Louisville; 8 grandchildren, Jackie (Deborah) Howard, Deborah (Chester) Rogers, Wendy Ray, Tony (Betty) Howard, Michael Howard, Mark (Mary) Howard, Michele (Rick) Easley, and Tris Howard; 25 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 602 Sycamore Street. Burial is in Pleasant Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Pleasant Ridge, KY. Visitation is Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Chapel. McFarland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
