Mark Edward Griffith, a.k.a. "Professor" age 60, of Owensboro passed away while battling a chronic illness on Monday November 25, 2024. He was born December 24, 1963 in Owensboro to Dorothy Simmons and William "Med" Griffith. Mark graduated from OHS and worked for Ruby Tuesday and Tracco ~ Total Packaging, LLC for many years. He enjoyed playing chess, riding motorcycles, driving fast cars, playing billiards, cooking, helping people while showing love, among other favorite pastimes. Furthermore, he was an avid University of Louisville (U of L) fan. Mark loved his family and enjoyed their company with a deep passion. He was recently preceded in death by his brother Keith. Left behind to mourn his loss are his parents; son, Raheem Griffith, siblings Ricardo "Ricky" (Diane) Simmons, Joyce "Baby Sister" (Frank Jones) Griffith, Calvin Brooks of Louisville, Layson Brooks, Jr of Lewisport; stepmother Maxine Griffith; stepfather Layson Brooks, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday November 30, 2024 at McFarland Funeral Home, 1001 W 5th St., Owensboro, KY 42301 with Pastor Clarence Tapp officiating. Visitation: Friday, November 29, 2024 from 5:30 p. m. until 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service at Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 3723 SR 764, Utica, KY 42376
