Mary Louise Bruce Strand Austin, 84, was born June 8, 1931, and died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. Mary was born to Clyde and Goldie Bruce in Kimball, South Dakota. She was a mother, business owner, teacher and grandmother. Survivors include seven children, Martha (Brad) Johnson of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Jennifer (Ben) McCurdy of Rosemount, Minnesota, Peter (Sandy) Strand of Burnsville, Minnesota, Clydia (Verne) Bennett of Blaine, Minnesota, Millard (Juan) Strand of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Anna (Paul) Rogers and Christinia (Wayne) Thompson, both of Owensboro; a brother, John (Pam) of Flippin, Arkansas. Mary had 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother (Robert); husbands Millard J. Strand and Jerome J. Austin; and grandson (Cory Thompson) In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Thank you to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care given to Mary. Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rejoice Lutheran Church, 1155 County Road 74, Clearwater, MN 55320.
