Neko L. Gilbert, 48, of Owensboro departed this life on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro. Neko was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a former member of Sweeney Street Missionary Baptist Church. Neko loved writing poems and baking cakes. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Samuel and Effie Gilbert; Paternal grandmother Maxine McCray and her step-father Larry Sims. She leaves to mourn the loss of her passing and cherish her memories, her mother; Mary G. Gilbert and father; Everett Newton, four special aunts; Ann Gilbert, Robin Johnson, Jonell (Edward) Winstead and Jackie Gilbert, one special cousin; Nedra Haygan, several cousins, and a host of other family and friends.
