Rose Marie Smith, affectionately known as "Aunt Rosie," passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 76. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, Rose was the beloved daughter of the late Hershel Cecil Smith and Josephine Brown Smith. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of her life, expressed both in word and deed. She was a devoted member of UpChurch in Owensboro, where she worshipped under the pastoral guidance of Bishop Robert Randolph. Rose was preceded in death by her three brothers—Hershel, Fred, and Franklin Smith—and four sisters—Dorothy Mundy, Mary Riley, Josie Jones, and Wilma Swanagan. Though she has joined them in eternal rest, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Lisa M. Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever remember her kindness, strength, and gentle presence. A funeral service honoring Rose's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at UpChurch, located at 1836 W. 5th Street, Owensboro, KY. Evangelist Dewayne Swanagan will preside.
