Virginia " Bernyce" Long of Owensboro, Kentucky died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday the 16th of September at Heartford House. Born January 1, 1926 in Owensboro, Kentucky she is preceded in death by her parents; Frank Moorman Sr. and Ellen S. (John Thomas) Hicks. Bernyce worked as a caretaker in several homes, she also worked at Glenmore distilleries for several years. She volunteered a church and was a dedicated and loving wife, Mom, Mimi and Aunt BB. She loved her family and helped watch her grandkids when they were young. She was a lifetime member of Center Street Baptist Church. Survivors include her loving and devoted Husband, John Long of Owensboro, KY, a brother, Frank (Judy) Moorman Jr. of Louisville, KY, a sister-in-law, Mary Jewell of Owensboro, KY, a daughter, Chya (John) Colbert of Newburg, IN, two granddaughters, Bryee Wathen and Ellena White, both of Newburg, IN, a grandson, Josh Colbert of Evansville, IN, several close nieces and nephews as well as close cousins and friends. She loved telling stories, and loved spending time with friends and family. She also loved hosting parties at her home for all her neighboring friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Western Kentucky's Heartford House, 2914 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Heartford House and to Frank Molnar, Jr. for their support in her final weeks, and to a special niece, Beverly Long Durr for helping the family with all the arrangements and family planning.
