Wilbur Thomas "Tommy" Gray, 67, of Owensboro, departed this life on Friday, October 11, 2019 at home. He was born in Louisville, KY to the late Homer and Viola Gray Sr. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gray, two brothers, Robert "Bob" Gray and Story Allen Gray, three sisters, Barbara Ann Hughes, Rita Gail Mucker and Georgia Bell Gray and one step-daughter, Pauletta Robertson. Tommy was born , August 16, 1952. During his time on earth, he touched the lives of many people. He is loved by his family and friends. He cared a lot about his cousin, Vern" Bubby" Dean, who was his traveling friend. He worked many jobs in his life; he was a jack of all trades, never complaining. Tommy was a member of Guiding Star Baptist Church in Lewisport, KY where he loved his church family. He retired from the City of Owensboro Sanitation Department. He attended school in Breckenridge County were he won the all state cross country meet, and held the Title for many, many years, before it was broken by another person. Tommy loved farming, fishing, cooking, and working on cars. His favorite foods were beans, cornbread and tomato pie. Tommy leaves to cherish his memories and mourn the loss of his passing, his companion, Juanita Swanagan; one son, Anthony Dean; two daughters, Octavia (Todd) Elliott and Sophie Brown; eight step-children , a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren , great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Gray Jr. and Frank Duncan; two sisters, Helen Gray and Pat(Jesse) Watkins; one sister-in-law, Emily Martin along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
